Stamford EMS Vehicles

7 posts in this topic

I saw a picture of Stamford's new 901 supervisor vehicle...it looks great!!! Just out of curiosity, what other vehicles does Stamford EMS operate. I know that that have/had at least 2 expeditions(330 and 331?), 1 ALS intercept Crown Victoria(332), a large special ops ambulance (Unit 91), but what else???? I know they have a BLS flycar (Uniy 98). What about the regular ambulances? How many, what types?????

Stamford EMS operates 4 paramedic level transport ambulance from 0630-1830 and then drops down to 3 paramedic transport ambulance and one paramedic fly car from 1830-0630. They also always have 1 supervisor on-duty. As for type of ambulance, they have switched over from the van style ambulances to all full box type ambulances. Thats as much as I know about types of ambulances. They also have a web site www.stamfordems.org.

There are now several Type 1s entering into service as primary units.

In addition to the new 'truck', there are several reserve Operation vehicles (Ford Expeditions).

There is also a Command/Rehab Unit (Unit #91), which is housed at their HQ on Long Ridge Road. Unit 91 is the former Glenbrook Fire Department Rescue Truck, that was donated to SEMS about 3 years ago. Unit 91 was refurbished in-house and used to respond to major incidents (mostly structure fires). However, 91 was having some mechanical longevity issues and may be presently OOS?

There are also a bunch of Type 2 vans used by SEMS partner Company, Access Ambulance housed at their HQ. Access Ambulance is primarily a for-profit transport service serving Fairfield County and other adjacent areas.

Oh, and there are also the bikes. Used in places where there are dense crowds (parades, fireworks, etc.)
