College offers "Fire Buff" Class

1 post in this topic

I think this is a really neat idea!

Los Angeles Valley College offers "Fire Buff" Class

If there's one thing that we have learned over the years, it's that people have many questions about the Fire Service:

Why do they call the crew at my local station a Fire Company?

What is the difference between a Fire Engine and a Fire Truck?

Why are Dalmatians known as Fire Dogs?

Are all long fire trucks called a Hook and Ladder?

What is the difference between a Captain and a Chief?

Why are fire hydrants called Fire Plugs?

OK, like that silly jingle you can't get out of your head, now we've got you thinking endless questions of your own. Not to worry.

Thanks to the Community Services and Extension Program at Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC), your questions can be answered at a special one evening program:

Everything You Wanted to Know

About the Fire Department,

But Were Afraid to Ask

The Fascinating World of Firebuffing

Wednesday, March 8, 2006

6:30 - 9:30 PM

Instructed by long-time LAFD supporter and Fire Buff Bill Raddatz, the class welcomes you to explore and understand the inner workings as well as the emergency endeavors of Southern California's Fire Service.

For further information about this new class, please call LAVC: 818-947-2577 ext. 4172
