Mount Vernon- Multi-Alarm Fire 2-17-06

Time: 1240hrs

Location: 39 South 3rd Ave X E. 1st St./E. 2nd St.

Frequency: 154.145

Units Operating: Mount Vernon, New Rochelle E-22, L-12; Empress, MVPD

Description Of Incident: Heavy fire on 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of a 5-story OMD.

1238hrs- Time of distpatch.

1240hrs- Units on scene rpt 10-26.

1244hrs- 2nd Alarm. Co's have heavy fire on upper floors.

Exposure 1- Street

Exposure 2- Parking Lot

Exposure 3- Rear Yard

Exposure 4- 3-story commercial

1245hrs- MVPD ESU have (1) under for attempting to steal L-3 from front of building.

1250hrs- M/A New Rochelle E-22 and L-12 into city.

1255hrs- New Rochelle to the scene, respond into rear of the fire building on South 2nd Ave. Empress staging at 3rd X 1st.

1300hrs- CMD pulling co's from inside building and putting TL-1 in service in front.

1310hrs- CMD rpts heavy fire top floor and cockloft. TL-1 in operation in front of building. M/A Pelham Manor TL-3 and Pelham E-5 to cover.

1315hrs- CMD shutting down the Tower Ladder and crews are re-entering the building. New Rochelle on scene, setting up L-12 at the rear.

1317hrs- MVFD's last Engine to the scene, rpts to Car 1A in front of the building.

1326hrs- Car 1A rpts pulling co's from building.

1330hrs- L-3 setting up in Exposure 2 parking lot. Co's dropping a supply line from South 3rd to E. 2nd X 4th.

1341hrs- Car 1a reports fire still doubtful. (2) Tower Ladders in operation.

1342hrs- Greenville E-151 relocating to Mount Vernon.

1408hrs- Car 1a reports still have heavy fire conditions. (2) Tower Ladders set up and operating. New Rochelle units have (1) ladder pipe and (1) stang set up but not in operation due to low water pressure.

1423hrs- Car 1a reports main body fire knocked down. Partial collaspe of roof into top floor. Still have (2) Tower Ladders in operation.

1721hrs- CMD rpts engine co's being relieved. Holding both Ladder co's due to extensive debris and overhaul. Holding Pelham Manor TL-3 in city.
