Front/bumper mounted pumps on apparatus

6 posts in this topic

How many rigs around the area have front or bumper mounted pumps and panels? Are there advantages/disadvantages to this system? Does it matter where you place the pump on your truck? As far as i can think of, Mini Attack 9 of Bedford Hills, Engine 108 of Bedford and Engine 112 of Pound Ridge all have front mounted pumps. Any other trucks or info about this would be greatly appreciated!

Though I'm from a small city, couple of the rural towns have small or large capacity front mounts and use them for drafting at teh source or for supply. I can see that adantage with a rural atmosphere.

Lake Carmel's old 17-2-3 was Ford 8000 chasis (i think) with body by Salusbury and front mounted pump. An absolute gem to pump. Caught a draft right away.

Mahopac used to have a 1970 Dodge-Gowans/Knight with a 550 GPM Front ount Darley Pump. It was donated to the Inlet Fire Department in Hamilton County.
