Heating Oil Prices

8 posts in this topic

This is just my own personal advice......

Today, crude oil closed at $ 68.35/barrel, a 4-month high, due to the sabre-rattling with Iran and some wild goings-on in Nigeria. As a result, heating oil at the refinery TODAY rose 4 percent !

I feel we're going back into the $70s on the crude stuff and, since my last heating oil delivery (today) was priced at $ 2.649/gal it won't take much more to send it to 3 bucks.... it's still only Jan.20th...

Even if you're not due yet for your scheduled delivery, call them up and request one right now. The price is not going to drop from here and, you will save a few $$$$ compared to 1 month or 1 week from now. :)

hudson144 and Chief Mancusi, was that the market price or did you hedge it over the Summer at $2.33/gal and $2.49/gal ?

Some oil co.s offer their customers the option to lock in a fixed price/gal. in August for the whole Season (till April 1st). Mine did and I paid about $150.00 to lock in $2.44/gal. So, my delivery ticket says 2.649 but my invoice will be calculated at 2.44...

The price I paid was fairly consistent over the summer. I believe ipaid around 2.39-2.41 over the summer.

Hey guys, I joined an "oil co-op" this year and it's always at least 10 cents below the published local prices. Last month I paid 2.05 a gallon. If anyone wants info please PM me.

We locked in at $2.29 back at the end of summer. When I first started paying for oil back in 2002, we were paying $1.19. Pretty sad that the price has doubled in less than 4 years.
