WC Emergency Operations Center springs into action

Does anyone know anything more about this facilty?

It sounds as Con Ed may be dispatching from there, but my department was calling the regular Con-Ed desk.

Also, did 60 Control have dispatchers there?

As a Westchester emergency responder, I heard nothing about how this new facility works for us.

Westchester Emergency Operations Center springs into action

News12.com (01/19/06) HAWTHORNE - The brand new Westchester County Emergency Operations Center was put to work after the storm hit and is still helping communities cope with the aftermath.

The center acted as a coordinating point from where power crews were dispatched to trouble spots. Those running the emergency operations now have a central place to prioritize the response and assist the communities in the best possible manner.

County Executive Andy Spano says within the center there was total awareness of all the incidents brought on by the storm. This is the first time that the county has activated its new Emergency Operations Center.

I dont know if spring is the best word to use. The EOC was open durring the storm.

Con Ed had a rep. in 60 Control to try to prioritize calls. What should be mentioned is how 60 Control handle 1000% more volume than normal for that 24 hour period.

Didn't see that in the news!!

Did 60 Control add additional dispatchers/call takers to handle the extra load?
