Somers currently has 1 Reserve Engine (E-186), it is fully equipped with the exception of defibrillator, TIC and Gas Detector.

Whenever a front line Engine goes OOS for more than a day those 3 items are moved over to E-186 to run front line.

Being fully eqipped, it also can run as 2nd Due out of Somers House, where it is housed.

It still gets a considerable amount of work!

Rye's spare engine (e193) is a 1981 it will be replaced in the near future with a 1986

Rye's spare ladder (l26) is a 1986tractor/1956(+/-)trailer yet to be determined if that will be replaced some hope it will be replaced with the current 2001 ladder

E193 is a 1981 Hahn (The "Yellowbird"). The current E192 (1987 Sutphen) will most likely become E193 in a year or so when the new Seagrave engine arrives (which will be similar to Harrison's Engine 10, except of course for the color.)

L26 is a 1985 Spartan Tractor/1955 Maxim 85' Aerial. The City's approved 2006 budget does include money for a new Ladder Truck-- although only time will tell if we get one or not-- if we do then it is probable that the current L25 (2001 Seagrave 100' RM) would become L26.

As far as rigs that are not currently housed in a firehouse... due to construction at the Locust Ave Firehouse, L26 is in a tent at DPW, and U39 (1989 International/Saulsbury Generator/Patrol Truck) is also there in one of the garages.

Greenwich has a reserve ladder which is a 1970's american lafrance which was refurbed in 2001, and has a reserve "patrol truck" which is a 1990 gmc 3500 reg cab utility body w/ a generator. Each firehouse with an engine company in town, has a 2nd due engine, which can be moved townwide, so there is no need for reserve apparatus. If a 1st due piece becomes out of service they just take a 2nd line piece from another station out to cover.

In Yonkers, I believe that they have the following "Spares" that they use in case on of their Front Line Rigs goes out of Service (Engine 301 and 302 along with Ladder 76 and Tower Ladder 77). These Rigs are housed at various stations throughout the city. Yonkers also has a fleet of "Reserve" Rigs, that are completely outfitted and ready to roll, should the occassion arise (like in the case of a General Alarm Fire in the City), to which off duty personnel called in to assist can go up and man, at a moments notice. These "Reserve" Rigs are Engine 305, 315 and 317 and Ladders 78 and 79 and they are all housed up at the Ridge Hill Bunker.
