1629hrs- Numerous Calls for structure fire at 38 Orchard St. (E-309 , 306, 312, 310; L-72, TL-71; R-1, B-1, Car 5)

1630hrs- YPD ESU Truck 4 on scene confirming fire out windows with confirmed occupants, possibly children trapped.

1642hrs- TL-71 and E-306 reporting heavy smoke from distance.

1643hrs- B-1 10-84, 10-30 and 2nd Alarm. Power lines down in front. (E-303, 308; TL-75; B-2)

1645hrs- B-1 req. 3rd Alarm. Heavy fire in 2 -story wood OMD with ext. to exposures. Units attempting to gain entry. TL-71 setting up in front. (E-304, 307, L-74) Units to respond to Nepperhan Ave.

1658hrs- CMD req. 4th Alarm. Exp.- 1 Street, Exp. -2 3-story wood OMD, Exp. -3 Rear yard, Exp.-4 3 story wood OMD. Heavy ember condition. (E-313, 311; L-73)

1700hrs- Heavy fire out all windows 2nd floor and through roof of original building with extension to exp. 2 and 4.

1702hrs- Car 5 (Safety) pulling all co's from fire building. Roll calls to follow. E-314/L-70 covering city. Req. 2 Eng's/2 Trk's M/A to cover.

1710hrs- L-74 setting up ladder pipe in rear, off Nepperhan Ave in parking lot with E-304. E-313 to rear off Myrtle St. Multiple lines in op. in front of 38/36 Orchard St. Mutual Aid Mt. Vernon E-2/L-2 to cover Sta. 12. Original fire building fully involved. Heavy fire 2nd-3rd floors of Exp.'s 2 and 4.

1715hrs- E-313 to set up in rear of 42 Orchard St in lot and protect exposures with deck gun. 2 L/S/O in rear with L-74. Fire out top floor and roof of 36 and 38 Orchard St. in rear. M/A New Rochelle E-22/L-12 to cover.

1730hrs- Co's re-entering exposure buildings from front and rear. Shutting down L-74. PD with 2-3 occupants unaccounted for. Fire thru roof of Exp. 4.

1745hrs- Co's making progress. Heavy fire has darkened down.

1800hrs- CMD confirming crews have located (3) DOAs in original fire building.

1815hrs- Main body of fire in all buildings is knocked down. Empress treating 5 FF's at scene.

1910hrs- E-315 I/S at Sta. 4

1942hrs- Fire is placed U/C.

1953hrs- NRFD L-12 released.

just a question in most of the pics it looks like Yonkers uses 3 inch supply line, but in some of the last ones they are useing 5 inch. Whats the deal, do some rigs only 3 inch and when do they use 5 inch opposed to 3 inch

The only Companies with LDH are E-312, and recently E-309. They both carry the 5" hose. All other Engine Companies use 3-1/2" supply line (2 3-1/2's to the hydrant).

Good pictures and audio as always... Question:

In the audio, "jumping to the third alarm" What are the tones that are heard? Is Yonkers switching from the "telephone buttons" or is that from another frequency and got mixed in?

The tones that you hear on Yonkers High band 484.7125 are Motorola Quick Call tones. Used to page the higher ups and people like MSU.

If I can remember correctly There is a 10-30, 2nd alarm, 3rd alarm and all tone. I had a list at one time, But I can't seem to find it anymore.

But why did the dispatcher put out the tones so much...In Previous Fires the dispatcher would only put it out once every alarm upgrade? He did it 3 times in one shot...or is that how its supposed to be?

Channel 4 advertising at 1630 that they have new home video from the intial moments of the fire, and they will be playing it on at 1700 during "Live at Five".
