Description of Incident: Fatal MVA, Van vs. Scooter

Writer: 242steve with info from 25truck26

0900: Rye was toned out for Serious MVA, involving a motorcyle, reported to be I-95 northbound, just south of exit 19.

En route, Rye units were updated that patient was going into "traumatic arrest"

Rye units had already committed to the thruway when it was deemed that this was actually in Harrison's jurisdiction. Harrison units responded and some Rye and Harrison units remained on scene for up to 3 hours to aid with traffic and wash-down of the scene. Some equipment was contaminated and the front bumper pre-connect "trash line" from E191 was discarded.

Members who were on scene reported a Vespa-type scooter was lodged under a van, the patient had already been removed by EMS upon FD arrival. Patient was pronounced dead at Sound Shore.

As units cleared the scene, they discovered a non-related incident further up the road that was also in Harrison. Another van was leaking fuel and oil and Harrison Engine 11 and Rescue 19 responded because Engines 12 and 191 had used all of their speedy-dry.
