Los Angeles- jetBlue Emergency 9-21-05

Time: Currently developing, PST 1720hrs

Location: LAX Airport, in-air

Frequency:

Units Operating: LAX Full Crash Assignment, MCI Task Force, numerous LA City and LA County units

Description:jetBlue Flight 292, a Airbus A320, enroute from BUR (Burbank-Bob Hope Airport) enroute to JFK, is attempting to make an emergency landing, visual on nosegear reports nosegear wheelcarriage turned at a 90 degree angle. LAFD OCD confirming plane due to land shortly. Plane Tail # N536JB "Canyon Blue", assigned to land on Runway 21F (Runway is the closest to the Pacific Ocean at LAX) Plane burning fuel over the Pacific Ocean.

DISPOSTION: Plane has made a safe landing, front nosegear held up for landing, plane skidded on front nosegear for a short period and then came to a stop, being evaluated ATT by airport and emergency personel, passengers will be deplaned, bused to terminal, jetBlue has a massive customer service response and will provide another flight to JFK or make other accomadations for passengers.

Landing described as "very smooth" by passengers, crew handled situation excellently.
