Stamford (Fairfield), CT -2nd Alarm 9-12-05

Time: 0902 hours

Location: 73 Garden Street, Xstreet Manhattan Street.

Frequency: 154.13 mHz Dispatch; 800 mHz Trunked Operations

Units Operating: DC-4, E-2, E-1, E-6, T-2, R-1, E-3 (RIT), T-3, T-1; Fire Marshal Division; SEMS Medic #1, Medic #901 (Supervisor); SPD.

Description Of Incident: Box 12 was transmitted for a telephone alarm of a structural fire. Upon arrival E-2 reported heavy fire on the #3 floor of a three story w/f multiple dwelling. E-3 was dispatched as the RIT company and T-3 and T-1 were called in on the second alarm. During initial attack a partial roof collapse occurred and the chimney dropped. Members withdrew and the operation went defensive with master streams being operated by E-2 and T-3. Minor extension to exposure B. Two members were injured and transported by SEMS to Stamford Hospital where they were treated and released. The building was ordered demolished by the city building department and work was completed that day.
