Stamford (Fairfield), CT. - Working Fire - 9/02/05

Time: 0804 hours

Location: 1200 Bedford Street, between Oak St. and First St.

Frequency: 154.13 mHz (Dispatch), 800 mHz (Ops and Fireground)

Units Operating: DC1, E-1, E-5, T-1, E-6 (RIT), E-3, T-2 (HazMat), R-1, Fire Marshal Office: Stamford EMS M-3, Medic 901 (Supervisor), Unit #91 (Rehab Unit); SPD.

Description Of Incident: Box 432, Automatic fire alarm for a commercial occupancy. Upon arrival E-1 reported a fire on the #2 floor in a computer room involving a UPS unit and the halon suppression system did not activate. RIT assigned to incident (0837). Fire attacked with dry chem and CO2 without success. Handlines stretched as a precaution and mechanical ventilation was started. Second alarm transmitted (0910) for additional personnel and fans. Fire control required power shutdown to entire building and additional agent application. SEMS on scene established rehab sector and SPD provided traffic control. Manpower recalled to staff E-9 and DC2. Under investigation by the Stamford FMO. Last companies (E-5, T-2) cleared at 1246 hours.
