Idea For Mount Vernon And Pleasantville FF's

4 posts in this topic

In speaking with a friend, I was informed that Ferrara Fire Apparatus' Plant, which is located in Holden, LA survived, but many of it's employees homes and lives were devastated by the storm.

Since both Mount Vernon and Pleasantville are slated to recieve multiple pieces of Fire Apparatus from Ferrara, I think it would be a cool show of support for firefighters from those departments to do a boot drive, supply drive, whatever for the employees of Ferrara affected by the storm.

It would definetly be an interesting way to show a community connection.

Thats sounds like a good idea will see what we can do. If the Ferrara's prove to be as strong as the plant and the employee's that build them we will be in great shape. Chris Ferrara is letting employees and their families that lost everything live in the plant in some of their large meeting rooms until the can get their lives back in order. Also the plant is being used as a communication center for the local fire depts almost 85% of all volunteer depts down there lost everything and Ferrara is going to be started an equiptment drive and I will let you know more when I get more info.

Hurricane Katrina

HOLDEN, LA - Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. is truly blessed as a company. We have survived Hurricane Katrina and are still in operation. We have sustained some damage to the facility but we have had no flooding and normal power has been restored. Telephone service is very much disrupted so please be patient as your call is very important to us. We are overwhelmed and humbled by the concern shown by both our friends and customers. In spite of considerable damage and loss of electricity at the homes of most of our employees, we are doing everything in our power to deliver all products to our customers in as timely a fashion as possible.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus Accepts Role as Logistics Center for Firefighter Relief Supplies

At the request of the Louisiana State Firemen's Association and the Louisiana Fire Chief's Association, Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. has agreed to function as a logistical resource center, collecting and distributing supplies, to be utilized by the firefighting personnel working in Louisiana activities related to Hurricane Katrina. With the massive undertaking of the rescue operation and care for the evacuees, emergency personnel are overloaded. Ferrara's ability to receive, house, and dispatch the large quantities of supplies needed, along with its centralized location makes it a logical choice to take on this monumental task.

Ferrara has received numerous calls from its customers and contacts in the fire service from across the country wanting to know what is needed and how they can help. In passing that information along, Ferrara was asked jointly by these two organizations if they could assist in coordinating this effort. "It is a great opportunity for us to do our part and help care for the firefighter's who are risking their lives to save others." stated Chris Ferrara, President/CEO.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. would like anyone interested in donating the items listed below to email bertm@ferrarafire.com or fax to 225-567-7668.

The following items are needed immediately:

Cots, Pillows, Blankets, Towels, Socks, Underwear, Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes, Deodorant, Bottled Water, Air Mattresses, MRE's and non-perishable snacks, etc.

These items will be updated based upon firefighter's needs.

We are working diligently to develop additional command post communications thru the use of satellite cell phones with the fire departments in the affected areas so that we may deliver these supplies where they are most needed.

Should you be interested and are able to help please either transport or ship by Fed-Ex Freight any of the above listed supplies to the following address.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc.
