In 2004 and 2005, the New York State Museum presented "Help Is Here", an EMS history exhibit, featuring sixteen historical ambulances.

A good friend of FSP, Myron Gittell, was instrumental in making the Help is Here exhibit a reality.

Through analysis of those exhibit vehicles, which date from 1911 to the present, this book provides a survey of emergency medical services with emphasis on the ambulances in use during the past century.

Historical photographs complement essays about individual ambulances. An eight-page color section illustrates the vehicles as they appeared in the "Help is Here" exhibit.
