Mohegan's Injury Prevention Unit

10 posts in this topic

I just want to say that Mohegan's new Injury Prevention unit is, IMO, a really good and really progressive idea. It's the first in the area that I know of of this type. Mohegan has a comprehensive Fire Prevention program, and this is an excellent extension of that.

It's time every agency starts working on injury prevention and EMS outreach/education just like FD's do Fire Prevention.Just like fires, many injuries and EMS calls can be prevented. And people need to know what to do in a medical emergency.

Can one of our members from MVFA-VAC tell us more about the equipment and teaching tools this unit carries??

Nice job Mohegan! I hope to see this idea taking root all over the area!!

I've seen the unit and trailer that carries their supplies and its very nice. I also know one of them members who is running it personally and they couldn't have a better person in that position. I wish them the best of luck.

Myself and Greg Grimadi are running this program. I founded it, he helps me and supervises being a board of director. Our trailer carries Andy the Ambulace(robot) endless handouts and a table, tent and chairs. The program is running great we've been to a couple of places(check out www.moheganfire.com Injury prevention area) The response of children is overwhelming and they learn a lot. If you want to know more go to our website and thank you to everyone for the compliments.

Thanks for chiming up. I wasn't sure if it would be ok to say it was you or not. Like I said, they couldn't have a better person running it and Greg to oversee and assist.

With Erica being as "injury prone" as she is, she is defiently the person to teach others how to prevent them

All kidding aside, good job with this unit! Are you planning on visiting the schools as well on a regular basis?

(In addition, the new website is great!)
