The Meaning of a 10-75?

on 7-20-05 my dept got toned out for smoke in the bulding first engine on scene reported that they has smoke coming from a window and transmitted a 10-75 b4 even going in to inveestigate wich turned out to be food on the stove with minor ext now can anybody tell me what the real def of a 10-75 is im thinkin it should be something mor of the lines like fire blowing out the windows

A 10-75, as far as I believe everybody knows it is a working structure fire - ie. flames visible. If you have smoke showing, it is just that - smoke showing. Another reason for plain text over 10 codes.
