The radio message I was thinking of was discontinued about 10 plus years ago. It would Sometimes include wake and Funeral infomation. It was done earlier than midnight.

The only other times I remember was at 1930, when they tone tested all the Departments the county dispatched.

I seem to remember Yonkers using codes like that, also Division numbers. Back in the pan o' meat days...

But for the life of me I can't remember what it is.

If I had to take a stab I'd say 101, Division one today means 10-4, Batt 1....

=D> =D> =D>

Doug, Congratulations, you are correct.

Yonkers used to refer to the Battalions as Division 1 and 2.

101 was there code for 10-4. This was prior to Yonkers having 10 codes. This goes back to the late 1970's.

Okay, my turn, I guess....

(CAM502 and KEE404 can't play on this one, it wouldn't be fair)

Keeping with the dispatching thread let's go east a little, to Mount Vernon, during the same era the 70's:

Answer either question A or B

A) In Mount Vernon, on the radio (KEE404) if you heard Car 2 call "Give me a 31" or "Signal 31, the box,"

What did he mean?

What would he get?

OR

:D When the FDMV used fire horns at 0700 if they blew 9-9-9-9

What did that mean?

Good luck...

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Remember585 - Good job...Figured it was fitting for the coming snow even if there is no school tomorrow.

By the way Signal 31 was a full assignment. Back in the day pull boxes got a 1 & 1 and Car 2 & 3. A 10-75 got 2 & 1 with the Rescue - and a boat load of volunteers.

Others were:

Signal 11 - False Alarm

Signal 26 - All Hands, 36 - Second Alarm, 46 - Third Alarm

You next...

Believe it or not, it was just a guess. But I figured it had to be something like that if it was at 07:00...

I will have to come up with a question for y'all.

On April 16, 1988 the Croton Fire Department had a triple-fatal structure fire. Can you name the Incident Commander of this terrible blaze?

I remember because it was only 3 hours after my Father's first term as Chief.

The mother and 2 kids did perish.

ANSWER

Found answer in Worst Fire Thread .

WRONG.......

Gerry (Dad) went out of office at Midnight. His successor was the Chief for this call.

Hint: He's an "academic" kind of guy.
