Exit Numbers Being Added On The Taconic State Parkway

NYS*DOT has apparently been sending letters to agencies along the Taconic State Parkway, indicating they will be adding exit numbers to each exit on the entire parkway, from Kensico to I-90 over the next two years.

Obviously, there will need to be some CAD upgrades to many CAD systems and it's going to take a lot of getting used to for responders.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as DOT puts up new signs. Dispatchers can still use the exit street name as well as the exit # to avoid any confusion. Problems may come if there are some exit signs with numbers and some without. If it really takes two years that will probably be the case though.....

Now if people will just pay attention to which road they're on it will go a long way....

I was further informed the the exit numbers will correlate to the mile markers.

For example, I-84 would be Exit 37, since it is 37 miles from the origin at Kensico.
