Dobbs Ferry Tower Ladder 23 Replacement

8 posts in this topic

I've heard that Dobbs Ferry will be replacing their awesome 1992 Mack CF/Aerialscope, one of the last ever built on a Mack chasis, soon. I've heard rumors of a Pierce and a Rosenbaeur, and that one of the considerations was weight on the apparatus floor.

Does anyone have specifics?

I heard a rumor that they are unable to get a Pierce due to weight and looked at E-One but same issue and are leaning towards Rosenbauer but this rumor is unconfirmed so anyone with more info that knows better please post.

It's all going to come down to weight on the floor, or the Village repairing the floor. But that is unlikely to happen, because the FD and PD would need to be relocated during this and there's really no room in Dobbs Ferry to do so, and the Village doesn't want to spend the money. So most likely, the most length they can get at the least weight will win.

Thanks for the info, guys. That Secaucus Rosenbaeur TL is really nice. I also heard it has a really nice turning radius, which is important when making that very sharp, tight turn out of the firehouse onto Main Street in Dobbs.

As for the Mack, I wish I had the money. I know many collectors that are salivating over that truck.

Another end of an era of a Mack/ aerialscope. I absolutely love these rigs. Why aren't they rechassising the boom to a new body ? That would awesome
