Those of us from the "County Control" days (what 60 control was previously called) only knew him as "Scotty" McPhail.

At just about every fire he would ask the officer in charge "Chief have you got any gas?" Those who worked with him would remember!

That section of Palmer Avenue from Chatsworth Avenue to the Movie Theater was probably one of the most burnt down blocks in America beginning in the sixties and into the early eighties.
