At least 35 people were killed in an outbreak of explosions and at least two shootouts in Paris Friday, prompting President François Hollande to declare a state of emergency and close the country's borders.

Police in Paris told NBC News that several people had been shot at a restaurant in the 10th arrondissement in Paris, and The Associated Press reported that there were fatalities at the nearby Bataclan theater, where about 100 hostages were being held.

"Terrorist attacks of an unprecedented magnitude are in play in Paris. It's horror," Hollande said. "We have mobilized all forces possible to neutralize the terrorist."

French officials are now saying 153 have been killed, according to CNN. The gunmen are still at large.
