Perfect planning, making it on the day there were no fires in the districts that paid for those tower ladders. It was neat, I just don't agree with taking important pieces of equipment away from the taxpayers that "need" them.

Always a valid concern. I wonder if that played a part in the non-appearance of either Deer Park or Miller Place, both of whom have relatively new 'Scopes. Coram runs two truck companies, and the Kings Park rig wasn't in service yet, so they were OK. All the others weren't very far away from home, either. As luck would have it, not a single pager went off during the whole event, which was over and done in roughly two hours.
