WCPD Officer Gary Stymiloski Remembered 30 Years After LODD

1 post in this topic

Tuesday marks 30 years since Westchester County Police Officer Gary Stymiloski was murdered along the Saw Mill Parkway in Yonkers

The officer was preparing to impound a Mercury Capri after a traffic stop when its owner, Alex Mengel, a 30-year-old unemployed tool and die maker from the Bronx who had no drivers license, shot him three times. Mengel took Stymiloski’s handgun and fled in his police car.

“It’s important to remember because he loved his job, and he paid the ultimate price for it,” McGurn said. “He was a hero. He deserves our respect, and to be remembered by the officers of the future.”
