WCPD Officer Saves Teen And Is Struck By Car

A Westchester County police officer was hit by an out of control car while stopping to check on a teenager walking along the Saw Mill River Parkway during Friday morning's snowstorm.

Officer Paul DeSousa was hailed for his heroic act; a police spokesman said he placed himself in harm's way while hoisting the 15-year-old boy to safety as the car beared down on them both.

Police Officer Paul DeSousa was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with back and neck injuries described as non-life threatening. He was later released.
