Firefighter falls from roof, caught on video - 2 Alarm fire in Norwood, MA

Scary and amazingly caught by a news chopper in the area.

Reports are his injuries are non-life threatening (leg/ankle injuries).

Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

question for anyone who knows ...... what was the roof made of ???? was it icy? I watched the video several times and it looks like he is sliding... we can all learn from this so it does not happen to one of us....

but above all, I hope for his speedy recovery...

I watched the video a few times...It's hard to tell if it was icy or just wet (as wet roofs can be quite slippery depending on the type of shingle). It's safe to say that he is extremely lucky, and too hope for a speedy recovery.

Could anyone tell what the gray lines were on the roof? It was hard to tell, but it almost looked like brackets either left over from a roofing contractor or runners to hold satellite dishes. It seems as if the FF may have tripped on one of these (off screen). What ever those were, this is another reminder of how dangerous our job is, especially on the roof.

This incident occurred this past Friday. Weather was cold and dry.

I can't speak to the construction or surface condition of the roof. I am not sure if there was a good pitch to the roof and he just had momentum and nothing to grab.
