Kingston,NY (Ulster County) has placed an order with New England Fire Equipment and Apparatus for a 2016 Smeal/LTC 105' Tractor Drawn Aerial. 14481959_1235748153148369_9159452811821244634_o.jpg

Was talking to a couple of the Kingston brothers a few weeks ago. They spec'd it for a Seagrave TDA about four years ago. City appropriated the money then sat on it for a few years and couldn't understand why they then didn't have enough money for it. Guess they didn't know about yearly price increases. Then they wanted FD to get a straight frame aerial citing cost difference of a TDA vs say, a rearmount. (one less operator needed, you know where they were going with that.) At least they're getting what the firefighters wanted. Kingston has so many tight streets, it's the logical and logistic way to go.

Andy, in reference to Campbell Hall; I'd assume "rapid intervention vehicle" as in a RIT or FAST vehicle? Is this correct?

That's how it was worded in the legal notice.   Could very well be for that purpose, but a member of the company told me it will be a light rescue.   The one they got a couple of years back didn't work out well.....all sorts of issues with it.

According to the Tarrytown Board Of Trustees, the bid for the replacement of Engine 77 was rejected since it was a sole bid. According to the document I linked below, that bid was from Ferrara The document goes into depth about the situation, and why the 11 companies that were sent the bid didn't actually bid.
