70 graduate from Westchester County Police Academy

PURCHASE — Westchester County graduated 70 police recruits on Friday at the State University of New York.

The new graduates range in age from 21 to 55 and will join 14 different law enforcement agencies across the county, with 21 headed to Mount Vernon and 16 going to Yonkers.

This is the 136th session to graduate from the Westchester County Police Academy.

Training of recruits in the county began in the basement of a New Rochelle firehouse and, after several moves, settled in Valhalla in 1986.
