Fire Grants Application Period Opens

The application period for 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) - http://www.fema.gov/welcome-assistance-firefighters-grant-program - opened Monday, November 4 and closes December 6, 2013. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.

New this year is the Micro Grant, which has a funding limitation of $25,000. This voluntary option is only open to fire and EMS departments, and can be used for equipment, facility modification, PPE, training, and wellness/fitness. Departments applying for Micro Grants may still apply for vehicle and joint/regional grants.
