FDNY Water Rescue Caught On Video (E81, L46, R3)

Check out this video of members from FDNY E-81 and L-46 operating in Manhattan back in August.

A 24-year-old jet skier was sucked under the dock while he was trying to fix his watercraft.

Members from L-46 happened upon the scene while on a different run for a boat in distress. Two L-46 members called for tools which were approximately 100 yards away on the truck. One of the members considers swimming under the dock but is ordered to wait for the tools as it was considered too dangerous to enter the water due to the strong currents.

The tools arrive along with one member of Rescue Company 3, the other rescue members began to get their scuba gear on. L-46 members with the assistance of the rescue firefighter cut and ripped the dock apart and extricated the 24 year old who has been under the water and not breathing for approximately 6 minutes at this point.

One member from L-46 immediately starts chest compressions while E-81 members start managing the patients airway with BVM and oxygen. After 15 chest compressions the victim comes back to life with water splurging out of his mouth.

Rob, the real story was that cop standing there patiently said NOTHING to the member who came down for recon. I mean zero, it wasn't till he saw the hand coming up through the hole for the pylon that he was like OMFG a person is under there. Bn 19 made a report because it was all $hit canned when he brought up the issue that the cop said nothing awaiting ESU.
