UPDATE: East Fishkill Police Standoff With Gunman Ends Tragically

EAST FISHKILL,N.Y.--State Police, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, and East Fishkill Police are investigating an incident in which a man was shot and killed following a standoff with police Monday night on Carpenter Hill Road near the Taconic State Parkway.

Officials say a 40 year old emotionally disturbed person, who was armed with a handgun,was shot and killed by New York State Police. Police say the shooting followed a call to Dutchess County 911 involving an emotionally disturbed man at 6:19 p.m.

Carpenter Hill Road will be closed until further notice, police said. The incident is being investigated by New York State Police's Troop 'K' headquarters.

The victim has not been identified
