Not Westchester but close enough....plus a neat rig. Mahopac LTI Oshkosh Ladder East Meadow and Lynbrook in my neck of the woods had one of these.

nice photo of verplanck's rescue...not sure where it ended up but if someone from the point is around maybe then can he you out. I'll even ask around to see if anyone knows where it went.

Rumor has it that they still have that in their "Station 2," not sure if it's true.

This isn't the greatest photo but it's definitely vintage. This is March 1931 and the streetcar in the photo is a Palisades Avenue No. 2 car that lost its brakes coming down Palisades Avenue from Ashburton (past where today the Schlobohm housing projects are located). The trolley should've turned left (in the photo) but was going too fast to stay on the track and careened into the buildings. One person, a woman, was killed. (Btw there's a typo on the photo caption. Should be New School Street.)

It's hard to see but that looks like YFD Truck 7.

Found out that it was sold to a private owner. No longer a fire truck. Not sure where it is.

The "twin" to this ladder was bought by Montrose. Granted the old LT8 was not a low riding rig. Both were firsts by LTI

I know this has been mentioned before but it's odd the older engine is the one with the enclosed cab. And they're both Seagraves to boot!

I remember riding on the back of the open Seagrave (Engine 139) back in the day. Wsa is service I believe untill 1977.

I was recently given a book of old NRFD pictures and asked to scan them and post them. They are from the John Maguire (the midnight voice of KEF-934) collection. Many are his work.

On the slide it says 1965 Mack C/1982 E-One....did Golden's Bridge refurb this truck at some point? photo Glenn Vincent

Thanks for the info, and it does look like a city rig!

Thanks for the info and it does look like a city rig at that!

Yes, the Mack was refurbished by E1 and a new 8V71 Detroit repower in the early eighties. I remember the body being so rusted out that we had to put plywood on the floor of the compartments to keep stuff from falling out.

Lake Mohegan Young Crusader. My Dept had a Snorkel with this cab. Ahead of its time for the 60's in window design and visibility.

My Dept had 3 Seagraves that looked just like the Harrison rig 2 engines and a ladder all 3 were 1967's

It should also be noted that those three identical Peekskill apparatus from the 1960's which were assigned to Columbian Engine, Columbian Hose and Cortlandt Hook and Ladder, actually replaced three much older Seagrave apparatus (early 1940's I believe) that also were virtually identical in appearance.

My grandfather drive this at Playland.

Once he brought it to a family event at one of the estates in Greenwich my aunt & uncle were caretakers and gave everyone rides around the property.
