A Message to the Westchester Regional EMS Community

Thank you to all of you who participated in honoring our Regional Medical Director and REMAC Chair Dr. Nicholas DeRobertis at his wake and funeral earlier this month. The attendance at the wake surpassed 2,000 and the number of agencies represented at the funeral in uniform and in vehicles was truly inspiring. His family was very touched by the outpouring of affection and respect held by those of us in EMS for a man who done so much on our behalf.

Dr. DeRobertis the individual can never be replaced, however obviously our system must move forward and is in need of a new Regional Medical Director and REMAC Chair. While these terms were synonymous due to the man who held the titles for more than a decade, they are actually not automatically one in the same. The REMAC will be voting on a new chairman at their next meeting in September. In the meantime, Dr. Timothy Haydock has been appointed Regional Medical Director by the Westchester REMSCO’s Executive Committee and has assumed all the responsibilities of that title effective immediately.
