Sound Shore And Mount Vernon Hospital File For Bankruptcy

Mount Vernon and Sound Shore Hospitals both filed for bankruptcy this week. Their talks to merge with Westchester Medical Center ended a few weeks ago, and they declared bankruptcy to clear Montefiore to take over.

The sale price is said to be around $50 million.

I don't see Mount Vernon surviving as a hospital, especially with OLM/Monte North being so close. But it could be a positive that local hospitals are affiliated with a major network.
