FF union - FDNY response times on Staten Island, citywide are a 'lie'

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The city's firefighter union is accusing the FDNY of cooking its response times by "covering up" the minute or so it takes for a 911 dispatcher to talk with someone who's reporting an emergency.

Uniformed Firefighters Association President Steve Cassidy on Wednesday referred to the FDNY's response times as a flat-out lie.

"They're trying to close 20 fire companies based on response times, that are absolutely, positively not true," Cassidy told the Advance Wednesday.
