Katonah-Bedford Hills VAC Celebrates 50 Years Of Service

When the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps was founded in 1963, the organization’s single ambulance was housed in a barn and had to be pushed down a hill by volunteers before the engine would turn over.

Now, the corps boasts three well-running ambulances and occupies a two-story building on Bedford Road that underwent a renovation about five years ago.

The organization will celebrate its 50th anniversary June 1 with a spaghetti dinner, part of a series of events planned throughout 2013
