Wassaic CAFS Pumper 69-12 (Delivered)

I started a new topic as it appears the old one is now lost. Wassaic's new pumper to replace the 1989 Pierce Dash is under construction at Firematic on LI. Here are some of the specifications regarding the vehicle.

, thanks, looks like around the end of May, hopefully, the vehicle is supposed to attend the New England Fire Expo so it should be done at the latest early June

Custom front and the rear table top console being installed, rear area to hold TIC camera and vehicle mounted charger, knox box, flashlights, carbon monoxide and gas monitor, portable radio bank, a 10" flip down monitor for the monitoring of the TIC camera operations, the bottom of the rear console was left open to be able to place gear bags and there will be an area at the rear for storage and also the mounting of the 3000 watt invertor. We are going to the shop next Friday for a visit so I will post some more detailed progress photos.

Thanks Mark, the Engine should serve the district well, especially the many not so easily accessible areas we have, the body was started yesterday, we are headed for a visit on Friday so I should be able to post some more detailed photos.

Why would the TIC Camera need to be monitored from inside the vehicle?

It's a remote 2 channel transmitter option that SCOTT provides with the TIC which allows a wireless feed which is an excellent tool for use during training evolutions and situations, to be able to monitor what the interior crew is seeing if the need arises. A few other things that came to mind when putting this engine together was the fact that we have several hard to reach areas in our district and have had some pretty inassessible brush fires in tough terrain the last few years (I believe x129 was at the one off Sinpatch Road on top of the mountain), a crew can take the TIC with them to these type of calls and it will give command an idea of what the crews are seeing and have going on. Out here in the country we have been asked to use the TIC for other uses as well, i.e., searches for lost individuals, injuried victims from MVA's that have wandered away from the scene. The remote transmitter was purchased with the camera several years ago but never installed, so with the building of the new Engine, it has already been paid for so why not install it, try it out and use it as another "tool" and yes I always try and think outside the box for using items and utilize them beyond what they were intended for, especially with a limited budget that we have in a small fire district. I am sure there are other things that this set-up can be used for as well, hope that helps v85.

others, 2" and 2 1/2" electronic valves awaiting install, the road to pump transfer level, radio bank in rear cab area, front of poly tank where the CAFS appliance and air controls will be, the air valve appliance and the USSC Valor custom seating label, body should go to paint at the end of next week and a visit to follow, it's coming together rather nicely.

a few sent from the shop today, the inner light bar installed, no it's not that 6' light the tech was using that you can see inside the cab, the PIAA off road lights are installed in the old headlight housing for extra lighting during night time ops as well as aiding in the poorly lit dirt roads that we encounter frequently and a few of the body showing the speedlay, foam storage areas at the front of the body and the cutouts for the spare bottles and other items to be stored there, as well as the hose bed and custom area that will hold the ladders, tools and suction.

I am an EMT not a fireman, but it would seem that the 5" inlet/discharge under the extended front bumper would get damaged easily. Was there no option for placing it in the bumper itself? Just curious..

Just the inner light bar, the 2013 cab is now 4" higher which created a height problem for us with the light bar on top of the cab, the picture of the inner light isn't really very good, we have added lights on the sides as well as the mirrors to help cover the intersections. This is the fourth front mount unit they have built and all have the same area for the large diameter discharge and to date there hasn't been a problem, the front mount design is subject to more damage than a mid-ship or top mount solely based on it's location at the front of the vehicle, it does look lower than it will be, I had placed the adaptor on it to actually check to see how far it was going to stick out passed the side of the bumper, it can be turned upward to gain some more clearance but thanks for the valid question, it's something to pass on to the shop when we visit again. I will also get a better picture from the ground as well to show the clearance at the next visit.
