Brooklyn- Small Plane Crash 5-21-05

Location: Coney Island Boardwalk, on beach next to Steeplechase Pier.

Units: NYPD ESU, Aviation, Harbor; FDNY full assignment, Rescue, Squad, TAC, SOC BC

1335hrs- NYPD PCT units on scene confirming small plane down on the beach at West 16th St. ESU enroute. FDNY transmitting box (4 engines, 2 trucks, Rescue, Squad).

1341hrs- ESU Adam-6 on scene reporting (4) people in plane, unconcious. Putting hurst tool to work to gain access, but the victims appear DOA. Truck 6, Boy-6 and supervisors enroute.

1350hrs- NYPD calling Level 1 Mobilization. Units securing crime scene. Harbor units on scene clearing shoreline with no signs of additional wreckage or victims. Witnesses state plane went down directly onto beach. FDNY units with (1) foam L/S. NTSB and FAA notified.

1410hrs- OEM and NTSB rep's at scene. Bodies will remain in aircraft until Medical Examiner, FAA and NTSB conduct investigations and give permission to remove. NYPD stating plane is reportedly a Cessna 172.
