Was used at last weekends WMD Drill. Very empressive. The large TV screen in the rear outside compartment was neat. They had displayed both live video and thermal imaging, remote gas detector readings (up to 16 detectors) and cameo cloud modeling. All being feed from the command area.

The technology available is mind boggling.

I think we are seeing the end of the blue collar firemen.....

Wow that is a sweet rig, very impressive indeed! Im sure it will serve Yonkers and beyond very well.

As Dan said, the technology is astonishing. I am certainly no Haz-Mat guru, but this thing certainly has all the bells and whistles.

Just a side question; i've always been curious, do YFD members have to obtain a class-A CDL to operate these tractor trailers or are they covered as they are emergency vehicles?

Wow, awesome rig. Looks like its very well planned out. I'm a big fan of the trailer and/or POD concept for special ops apparatus, why have another truck to maintain when you can just keep a trailer? Especially when its not used on a daily basis. Our HAZMAT truck was purchased by the region but we're responsible for maintenance. The rig doesn't get out much but maintenance costs are way higher than they would be for a trailer.

Best of luck to YFD with the rig

What would be cool is if every operator on the HazMat team has helmet cams that feed back to the computer monitors so command is sitting in the rig kinda like in Aliens and able to see video feeds on every operator. Oh....and a big honking gun turret on the top that folds down for those low overpasses. :D
