1 post in this topic

Seems like a pretty neat course.

MANAGING THE LOST PERSON INCIDENT

AND

MLPI TRAIN-THE-TRAINER COURSES

DATES

October 20, 21, 26, & 27, 2012 (MLPI)

October 28, 2012 (Train-the-Trainer for those who want to attend)

LOCATION

*TBD (southern NH/northern MA)

INSTRUCTOR

NASAR President Dan Hourihan will be the instructor for this course.

Dan got his start in Search & Rescue as an Alaska State Park

Ranger, rescuing lost souls in some of the most hazardous

conditions on Earth. Now retired from that position, Dan is the

current President of the National Association for Search & Rescue

(NASAR).

Dan comes to us with a wealth of experience in search and incident

management with over a thousand SAR missions during his lengthy

SAR career. He is an engaging teacher, and you will leave the class

with a thorough understanding of how to manage both small- and

large-scale SAR incidents. Dan will also be teaching the MLPI Trainthe-

Trainer course immediately following the regular MLPI course.

COURSE DETAILS

The Managing the Lost Person Incident (MLPI) course is a four-day class that explains the tasks and procedures needed to effectively manage SAR operations from the initial response, through the expansion phases of the search, to the final demobilization of all resources. This class was developed by NASAR. A complete description of the MLPI course can be found at the NASAR website.

The Train-the-Trainer will be held the day after the conclusion of the MLPI course. Anyone who passes the MLPI course with a grade of 96 or higher is allowed to take the Train-the-Trainer class. The Trainthe-Trainer class is required if you want to become a certified instructor for NASAR.
