Units Operating:

Peekskill FD: full assignment.

Lake Mohegan FD: E-255 (FAST).

Buchanan FD: U-12 (Cascade), 2551.

WCDES: Battalion 17; Cause & Origin Team (Zone 4).

Relocate: Verplanck FD: TL-46, 2491, 2493 to Station #1. Montrose FD: E-121, 2273 to Station #6.

Weather Conditions: 61°, clear, humid.

Description of Incident: Small working fire relatively quickly knocked down in a 3rd-floor attic area of a multi-family dwelling. 2.5 story, 60x40, wood-frame, garden/low-rise. Primary searches negative (all residents evacuated before FD arrival). All-hands. 1 L/S/O. No injuries reported.

Cause determined to be electrical malfunction, originating in 3rd floor bathroom light fixture/fan. Fire, smoke, and water damage to third floor bathroom, fire extended to adjacent kitchen and small portion of roof, smoke and water damage to other two floors. Red Cross, with OEM assistance, helped 5 displaced families (9 adults, 7 children).

22:52 hrs: dispatch for fire in the attic to 602 Halstead Avenue (later corrected to Homestead). Peekskill FD, Lake Mohegan FD (FAST), Buchanan FD (Cascade), Battalion 17 dispatched to scene. Montrose FD Engine and Verplanck FD Tower Ladder 46 to Peekskill FD to Standby. Peekskill OEM (Unit 3) o/s.

22:59 hrs: FAST and Cascade only to the scene. MFD to Station #6. VFD to Station #1. Bat 17 to scene.

23:00 hrs: 2273, E-121 from MFD are relocating. U-12 (Cascade) from BFD is relocating.

23:04 hrs: C&O (Zone 4) to Landline. 2273, E-121 out at Standby PFD Station #6. 2493 out of Station #1.

23:08 hrs: Bat 17 o/s.

23:12 hrs: Per Bat 17, 2.5 story 60x40 wood-frame. Primary searches negative. All-hands. 1 L/S/O.

23:32 hrs: Per Bat 17, visible fire out, overhauling. Mohegan FAST released.

23:37 hrs: ConEd o/s. OEM in contact with Red Cross (appx.).

00:02 hrs: Per Bat 17, Command releasing U-12 and will call in when back in service.

00:04 hrs: OEM reporting five families displaced.

00:06 hrs: Buchanan Chief and U-12 are leaving the City of Peekskill.

00:10 hrs: OEM directing displaced residents and Red Cross to do paperwork at PCVAQ HQ.

00:16 hrs: Per 60-Control, Montrose and Verplanck released. 2273 copies, 2493 copies.

00:24 hrs: Red Cross responding for five families.

03:45 hrs: Last of residents received Red Cross assistance and are now en-route to hotel in Elmsford.

04:03 hrs: OEM Units 2 and 3 closed out job to PD dispatch.
