City of Newburgh - 2nd Alarm - 09-18-12

Location: 82 Carson Ave. c/s S. Lander St.

Frequency: C/NFD, OC911

Units Operating: Car-1, Car-4, E1, E3, T1, Air Guard (FAST), West Point (Engine), Cornwall-on-Hudson (Truck), New Windsor (Engine), 36-13, MLSS

Weather Conditions: Rain/Wind

Description Of Incident: 2nd Alarm Fire

Reporters: BFD1054

Units re-located to Newburgh Public Safety Building: Orange Lake E427 & Vails Gate T484

1715hrs-NFD Dispatch sounding the Alarm of Fire, 82 Carson Ave.

- NFD Dispatch advising numerous calls reporting the fire.

*NFD E1 was operating their Marine Unit on the River when this alarm came in, leaving only 1 & 1 in service in the City.

1716hrs-Unit reporting smoke showing, requesting a FASTeam.

- Command now requesting a 2nd Alarm

1717hrs-OC911 alerting Air Guard; FASTeam to the scene.

1718hrs-Car-1 on the scene.

1719hrs-OC911 alerting West Point; (1) Engine to the scene.

- OC911 alerting Cornwall-on-Hudson and New Windsor; Cornwall-on-Hudson Truck and New Windsor Engine to re-locate to the City of Newburgh Public Safety Building.

1721hrs-OC911 re-sounding Cornwall-on-Hudson and New Windsor; Both companies now requested to the scene.

1720hrs-NFD Marine Unit available and responding back to the dock to respond with E1.

1723hrs-Cornwall-on-Hudson T413 and New Windsor E446 responding.

1726hrs-C-o-H T413 to come up Liberty St.

1728hrs-NWFD E446 on the scene.

*1729hrs-NFD advising 2nd possible structure fire, South Miller.

**At this point i left to respond with VGFD. I do not have any further info on the 2nd Alarm on Carson Ave.

However, from talking to NFD members, they had their work cut out for them and had one hell of a fight. Nice job to all companies operating at this fire. They had a HEAVY fire load and worked their tails off as always, good work NFD!

1731hrs-OC911 alerting Orange Lake and Vails Gate; Orange Lake Engine and Vails Gate Truck to re-locate to the City of Newburgh Public Safety Building.

1735hrs-OC911 re-sounding Orange Lake and Vails Gate; assignment into Newburgh has upgraded. Orange Lake and Vails Gate to respond to 10 S. Miller for an electrical fire.

1745hrs(approx)-Orange Lake E427 and Vails Gate T484 taking up from S. Miller and en-route to the Public Safety Building for stand by.

1830hrs-Stand-by companies dispatched to Liberty St and 1st St for a car vs. bicyclist MVA.

OLFD E427 responded with Newburgh Car-6 while VGFD T484 remained on stand-by.

1930hrs-Stand-by companies dispatched to 30 Carter St for a branch on wires that are arching.

OLFD E427 responded with NFD Car-6, while VGFD T484 remained on stand-by.

1935hrs(approx)-NFD Car-6 advised that he had smoke coming from an electrical panel inside the residence at 30 Carter and requested Vails Gate's Truck to the scene.

OLFD and VGFD members then located active fire in the wall. Members then worked together to extinguish the fire, ventilate and overhaul.

NFD E10 (reserve) took up from the fire on Carson Ave and responded to assist OLFD and VGFD members.

NFD Fire Investigators responded to the scene as well. All companies remained on-scene until the FI's concluded their investigation.

Once OLFD and VGFD companies cleared from Carter St, they were returned to their respective districts.
