Three longtime New York sports figures joined police and firemen from around Dutchess County for the first ever "Guns and Hoses" baseball game

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Shane Spencer watched the towers fall on 9/11 from his home in New Jersey. Two weeks later, he took the field at an emotional Yankee Stadium

"It was a difficult time, but it seemed like we helped people just by playing the game," said Spencer, an outfielder for the Yankees in 2001. "It was very hard, very hard to concentrate on baseball when other things were going on in the world and to be here today is a privilege."
