Negative. According to the most recent FBI UCR report Flint Michigan is. Camden doesn't even make the list but gets an honorable mention....

Negative to your negative. The link you posted is for cities only with a population of over 100,000 residents.

REGARDLESS, CMD is a nasty city, plagued with violence, crime, and fires.

This will prove to be disastrous, not only for the guys losing their jobs, but for the residents of Camden...and really, for all of us in public safety - a precedent HAS been set.

Eliminating roughly half of the current cops, no shift differential pay and no holiday pay?!

F*** that!

I'll go you one better. Allegedly, the new Morris County Sheriff's contract eliminates all steps. They start at 44k. Due to the Chrisie 2% budget cap, that is the best raise they will ever get, if they get one at all. A real incentive to join.

I agree BUT when this fails due to many reasons,or God forbid someone dies or is injured due to this system another precedent will have been set, and hopefully prove that this is not the way to go.

It's my understanding that this newly created police force will be non-union. If this is true, then I think the prudent thing to do by the public sector unions would be to mount an immediate organizing campaign to organize the newly hired employees and let the state know that union-busting will not be tolerated. Better to get them into the fold as opposed to them being non-union with either limited or no rights in the workplace.
