Robert Sweeney, the chief of operations for the New York City Fire Department, was sworn in Friday as the new fire commissioner in the City of Yonkers, by Mayor Michael Spano.

Congratulations and good luck. Hopefully he can be the leader Yonkers FD needs to keep their City from trying to downsize them, despite the continuing growth in population and call volume they have.

You know...when there are posts about the new Commish, I see alot of FDNY guys on here repeat what a loss it is to "them"...in today's world of "F%*K up, Move up" promotions, I think it speaks volumes for his reputation and substance. very rare these days.

I wish the Commish, as well as the Brothers of the YFD the best.
