Happy 100th Anniversary Hopewell Hose!

Congratulations to Hopewell Hose, part of the East Fishkill Fire District on 100 years of volunteer service to the community and still going strong. They will be hosting a carnival starting today and will host the Dutchess County convention with a parade starting at 19:00. The parade will be on Rt 82 starting near Palin Rd and going to the Hopewell Recreation field.

Fire company hopes parade is 'the biggest'

Hopewell Hose's centennial fete will include carnival, fireworks

Excited about its 100th anniversary, Hopewell Hose Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 will celebrate with a carnival today.

“There will be fireworks and a huge parade, too,” said Richard Jackob, president of Hopewell Hose. “Firefighters from 35 Dutchess County fire companies will be participating in the parade.”

The 100th anniversary means a lot to the company, which takes pride in its past. At a June 1912 meeting, the decision was made to form a fire company in Hopewell Junction. In October 1912, the charter for the original fire company was signed.

Only volunteers serve in the East Fishkill Fire District, and unlike neighboring City of Beacon, Jackob said, it has no plans to switch to a paid, full-time fire chief.

Hopewell Hose will show off its other pride and joy in the parade: a 1921 Ford pumper truck, Dutchess County’s first motorized fire vehicle.

Should be a fun parade.. Might be soggy, but fun none the less. I will be with our antique, a 1937 ALF pumper.
