Larchmont - Barge Fire - 7/4/12

Time: ~2145hrs

Location: Long Island Sound off Larchmont Yacht Club (1 Woodbine Ave)

Frequency: 46.26 (Dispatch), Fire 15, 155.775 (LPD), Marine 16 & 72

Units Operating: [Larchmont FD: 2222, E35, E34, TL7], [Mamaroneck Village FD: 2242, E42, M2], Larchmont PD, Mamaroneck Village PD, Sea Tow

Weather Conditions: Hot, Hummid, 80 Degrees

Description Of Incident: A malfunction of the fireworks caused a subsequent fire at The Larchmont Yacht Club. There were 2 rounds that misfired and exploded on the deck of the barge. Following the initial malfunction, there were 4-5 more misfires that exploded at or just above the deck of the barge. During this round of misfired shells, there was a bright red glow on the deck of the barge. The situation was mostly stabilized prior to the arrival of PD and FD boats. Seatow was on standby and responded to assist after the 2nd shell misfired
