Firefighter Appreciation Weekend will be held on July 14th and 15th.

Saturday, July 14, 2012 – Sunday, July 15, 2012

This weekend, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will honor NYC’s bravest: Firefighters, Paramedics, EMS and EMT. This year will mark the 4th annual Battle of the Boroughs Cook-Off Competition! With a bucket rescue demonstration, tours of Fireboat Three Forty Three, and interactive displays, guests will catch a glimpse in to the lives of these extraordinary service men and women.

I went a few years back, great event. I'm sure it will be packed this year with the new FDNY boat in service and the Space Shuttle on the Intrepid.
