High Park, Colorado - Massive Fatal Wildfire - 6/9/12

Time: Original call came in at 0554 hours on Saturday June 9, 2012

Location: High Park, Colorado located in Larimer County

Frequency: Larimer County Fire and EMS which also includes PFA, TVEMS, Loveland Fire, PVHS Ambulance, Berthoud Fire, Wellington Fire and Mutual Aid Talk Groups. (http://www.radiorefe...io/?feedId=7897)

Units Operating: National Guard, High Park FD, Canyon Lakes FD and several more.

Weather Conditions: Hot, Dry, Windy

Description Of Incident: Approximately 41, 140 acres have burned and continue to burn as a massive wildfire spreads throughout Colorado. The fire is ZERO percent contained and has doubled in size over the last 24 hours. A total of 100 homes have been evacuated over the course of the last 36 hours. There are a total of 400 firefighters on scene, up from the 250 on Sunday and an additional 1-200 personnel are expected for today. Air Tankers, Helicopters and additional ground support have been called in. The fire is also burning through parts of the Roosevelt National Forest

that authorities have been concerned about over the past 2 decades. Officials say the cause of the fire was a result of lightning.

Update 6/14/12: 49, 763 acres and 10% contained. They're are a total of 1,300 firefighters o/s with no injuries reported to them. The Colorado-Wyoming National Guard have provided 50 MP's to work the roadblocks.
