A peek at the past: Kingston Volunteer Firemen’s Hall & Museum packed with memorabilia

1 post in this topic

From the Daily Freeman

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Brantmeesters, or fire marshals, once sounded alarms long ago.

It was more than 350 years ago that the Dutch colonial government put the fire marshals in place, marking the beginnings of what would become the Kingston Fire Department.

Today, some of the department history since 1661 can seen by visiting the Volunteer Firemen’s Hall and Museum at 265 Fair St.
