Description Of Incident: New Haven Communications advised Car 34(West Battalion Chief) en route of numerous victims trapped on the 5th floor of a large 5-story brick OMD, hanging out the windows. Car 34(West Battalion Chief) transmitted a Signal 22(2nd Alarm) en route. Engine 9 o/s transmitting a Signal 73(Working Fire) for a smoke condition in the main hallway. Engine 9 rescued 1 victim from the 4th floor w/smoke inhalation. Fire contained to apartment of origin w/heavy smoke condition throughout the building. Companies o/s assisted in evacuating building. Several victims removed w/minor smoke inhalation. 3 L/S/O's w/Truck Companies opening up. All companies working. Emergency Unit(Ambulance) 2 set up triage in front of the building. Originally reported as an Activated Fire Alarm, then multiple reports of smoke on the 5th floor. New Haven Communications then transmitted the Box Assignment. All searches negative w/no injuries reported.
